Knocking noise at idle. wam/hot only

Hi guys

Recent owner of an rx-8 2005 auto transmission. The car is perfect and has been looked after very well by previous owner no other issues except a knocking sound at idle when hot only.

It goes away once you rev and has no effect on performance. I have searched the forums But there is no definate answer?

Is this a SSV actuator or valve issue? Showed it to a mechanic he hasn’t seen anything like this. Please any help would be appreciated link for video below, quality is bad but can hear sound clearly.many thanks!!

Check the actuator arm on the SSV, it rattles/knocks with time, they updated the SSV at some point. There are videos on youtube showing you where if you don't know what an SSV is.

Happy new year!!

I have posted those photos were you can see the difference of my old ssv and the new one. The old one came without the switch and it was bypassed at the other side.
In the new one came everything, so we connected.

Any reason why my ssv came so?

Thanks!!

Probably the valve was not operating correctly and the previous owner bypassed the ssv position switch so that it would always report the valve closed to avoid a check engine light. It may have continued to operate properly.

Are you reporting the possibility that some came factory this way?
