Key Problem

I own a lovely 2007 model which has the smart card remote (4 button credit card style) with a key for emergency opening in the event of a flat battery.

Unfortunately I have lost the emergency key and whilst the dealership will sell me the key they say that I must get it cut before they will program it.

The dealer says that they cannot cut the key and advise me to go to a local key cutter but my problem is that I do not have a second key to give the key cutter as a reference.

Can anyone advise me on how to get this key cut so that I can use it in the door lock or do Mazda keep pro formas of the keys in their records any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Regards

Alex

They should be able to get you the cut code from your vin. Years ago I had a honda key ordered from just the vin.

Sounds pretty absurd that they dealer can't cut it for you. I only had one and they were able to cut one for me.
