K&N Typhoon CAI causing CEL to illuminate

So I installed a K&N Typhoon CAI into my 2004 Mazda RX-8. It drives good but the check engine light came on while I was driving on the interstate. I stopped at the mall and when I came out it went away then came on again. No symptoms at all. Still drives great. Went to Auto Zone and got the code read and P2070 popped up. I don't know what to do. Any advice?

See my newbie's guide to modding thread. That K&N intake is one of the worst out there. You are certainly losing power compared to the stock intake, probably gas mileage as well. The CEL is because the intake can't smooth the air flow over the MAF sensor sufficiently. Sucking in hot engine bay air doesn't help either.

Get a stock air box and filter from a wrecked 8 and you will lose the CEL, gain power, gain mileage.

If you choose to deal with an intermittant CEL, lower power, and lower mileage, by all means, feel free

exactly, even i know as a nooooob that the "amazing all singing all dancing typhoon filter" is a load of crap, just as mentioned aswel, if you know anything about air drawn into your intake, you should know cold is far better than hot, especially when under that bonnet gets very very hot
