Just Saying Hi

Ive been searching the rx8 threads for the last two years and decided to make an account!

My rx8 is a S1 2004 stock engine manual 6 speed. Got the car with 84,000 miles for a fair price. I have loved my car the last 2 years, more specifically the high RPM's.

I have been doing oil changes every 3000 miles and changed my coils plugs and wiring when I got it.

I had a few misfires here and there but with the help of the rx8 club I solved the problem fairly quickly.

Recently I had my clutch replaced due to wear and tear from letting my brother drive it and PO.(GRRRRR not making that mistake again!)

Two weeks later I was having issues with stalling while hot, starting up, and thick white smoke coming out of my exhaust.

I ran a compression test and the engine is bad. :*( 70PSI on one rotor 30PSI on the other)

I LOVE the car too much to sell or junk it, especially after paying a hefty amount for a nice racing clutch and new tranny.

Ive done my research on the engine swap threads and decided to keep it basic for now with a new stock engine.

Currently my baby is sitting in a shed in my back yard while I get the funds for a new engine, tools, engine crane, level, ect.

I was wondering which online store has the best remaned engines. I looked into car monkeys, pineapple racing, even ebay, ect.

I was wondering if anyone has gotten a good remaned engine and from who! What was your experience like, ect.

Besides that, just saying hi!

Hey Red!

Where are you located?

Might be worth it to have it rebuilt if you have a decent builder around you. Some of the rotary shops around here can rebuild engines for less than buying a remanned motor..

I am lucky enough to be in an area with a few good rotary shops tho!

Pineapple Racing and Rotary Resurrection seem to be the choice of many on here.

I just recently joined the forum like you. I’ve always come here to search the different topics and learn from other owners. After reading about Pineapple Racing I bought my engine from them.
