Angry Issues with Series 1 Bose Audio Unit

Hey All,
Just bought an 2003 RX8, with a Bose audio system that was supposedly untouched.
Today I tried to test out the audio system, nothing from the radio but static on both FM1/FM2 for any frequency (scanned all of them but nothing).
Tried a CD (I have the 6 CD stacker), can load a cd in fine, and then all it does is make a whirring sound like it's trying to read the CD, the display reads 'CD IN' but even after a few minutes it doesn't go any further.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

This is probably NOT the solution, but since sometimes obvious stuff can be overlooked, I'm wondering if, coincidentally, you have two separate problems:
1) regarding no FM, perhaps the antenna is at fault. Mine failed after several years of ownership and I had it replaced. Problem solved.
2) long shot here, but I assume you're inserting the CDs correctly, with the printed "label" side up. (I know... duh.)

Anyway, good luck solving this.

In my opinion, it would be easier to replace it with the metra kit and install an aftermarket unit all together. I haven't done this yet myself because my oem unit still works, but is broken from the face of the setup and sometimes looses connectivity.

Antenna being broken is possible as said above. Also a dirty lens on the cd player could cause reading issues even with a cd inserted. You could try low pressure compressed air to blow out dust in the unit.

Shouldn't you insert the CD after it says "CD IN"?

Isn't the antenna inside the rear window? How can it be replaced?

Thanks for the replies everyone,
I agree with New Yorker, most probably two separate issues. I can faintly hear music when i tune into a station manually (really faintly behind the static). Might replace the antennae since its probably faulty, but I'll just check all the connections first.
I'll try cleaning out the CD reader, and yes I am loading in the right side up and at the correct time
PS: The antennae not inside the rear window, its mounted inside the rear window at the top, looks like its the window defroster but its really not

AB Bose head unit

There's some listed on Ebay for fairly reasonable prices. It's probably your cheapest solution.
