Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. Reading through the new owners thread
will answer all your questions.
Don't take 9k to serious, he's just letting you know in his way to post some pics of your new ride.

I'm not much of a Habs fan and they've had a fine season,but I really don't think
there going to make it past this series with Tampa Bay.

Olivier,

Welcome to the forum. Did you get a rotary specific compression test when you purchased the car?

The new and potential owners thread is a must for all new owners. Read through the threads linked in my sig.

Again, welcome.

Welcome aboard.
Nice mirrors. T'es dans quel coin?

There's probably no point in having a comp test since you already bought it. If you're not having any issues then doesn't matter that much. Usually we suggest to have the test before you buy the car, so you don't buy problems.

Any plans for the car? Track days?

I suggest it for all potential and new owners for peace of mind and to know the actual health of your motor.

Not just as a prequel to purchase.

@Loki

Je suis de Montréal , Westmount .

Yes , I know that I should did a compression test before buying it , but the car was in perfect state, no rust and I bought it from a friend.

But , you know , I got the tool to do it myself ... So maybe this week-end I can do the test.
I will post the result on the post if you guys are interested

"Any plans for the car? Track days?"

yeah sure ! ,

- Performance upgrade , I know that is very sensitive ... I already start to read about it and I don't want to buy something that will decrease the performance , change to much the sound or will kill the engine ... , maybe I will start by changing the starter for a version 2 and changing the Ignition Kit , coil-spark-cable...

- body kit , don't know which one yet... maybe mazdaspeed one ...

- Carbon fiber hood , I can't mist that , this is soooo awesome !

Track ? , I will try st-eustache Drag for sure ... maybe end of the summer I will try lapping .

Drag, bahhh don't waste your time. This is a corners car, straight lines are boring!
You can't use a regular compression tester on a rotary, you need a dealer (or a guy who has a rotary compression tester). If you go to a dealer, I'd suggest Mazda Brossard, they had a knowledgeable tech there.

I'm in Ville Saint-Laurent, so not far! Join BMW Club for track days, bring the car to Tremblant

If you go to julep sometime, we might see each other there.

RX8 Club’s recommended maintenance schedule, more comprehensive and proactive than Mazda’s schedule.
30,000 miles:
- Replace Ignition coils
- Replace Plug wires
- Replace Spark plugs
- Clean MAF (mass air flow sensor)
- Clean ESS (e-shaft sensor)
- Reset ESS profile
- Clean power steering connections
- Clean battery terminals and clamps
- Replace transmission fluid
- Replace coolant (Mazda FL-22 is highly recommended)
- Replace air filter
- Replace brake fluid (fluid in the brake lines AND the clutch line)
~$300 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

every 60,000:
...all 30,000, plus...
- Clean all chassis electrical grounding points
- Replace accessory belts
- Clean OMP lines
- Replace rear differential fluid
- Replace thermostat
- Clean / Straighten AC condenser fins
- Clean / Straighten oil cooler fins
- Inspect catalytic converter
- Clean / Inspect intake valving
- Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early
~$130 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

90,000:
...all 30,000, plus any 60,000 not yet done, plus...
- Replace coolant bottle
- Replace radiator hoses
- Replace radiator
- Replace front O2 sensor
- Replace motor mounts
- Inspect clutch pedal assembly for flex / weld breaks
~$900 USD in parts if you shop smartly.
At 100k, anything original in the cooling system is really suspect and failure prone. It represents the biggest threat to your engine.
