I have a plan, is it good?

Here's a little background, I'm currently 16 years old, I have my brothers old Acura tl and I have a 10 mile commute to school every morning. My plan is as follows: I sell the old Acura and put the $13k into an account labeled "car fund only" for as it is titled. I then will buy a 7-8k RX-8 from one of your fine gentlemen on the vendor forum and get the compression test first of course. After that I will put the rest of my money which will be about $5k into the account and use it for repairs in the future. I am prepared for the maintenance and am willing to do everything required to have the best car on the block. Is this a solid plan or will I end up losing everything and selling my soul?

You sound prepared, go for it.
No one knows how long their 8 will last. If you read all the new owner stickies, and are willing to learn and maintain it religiously, you may be in for a great experience.
They really are great cars.
I've had mine for nearly 2 years now, ('04 LY GT mt) and I still love it like no other vehicle I've had since my 1st at 16. (Yellow '69 Javelin)
Just remember premium EVERY fillup, check/add oil every other tank, and change oil every 3k miles.
Good luck!

At last - a teenager who's thought it through, did some research, and has a plan!

As long as your brother doesn't ask what happened to his car and demand the sales proceeds, you're golden.

Sounds like you've done some research and seem to know what you want... Just go for it if you think it will make you happy, worst case its a learning experience
