I have hit a wall with this and I'm in need of help

At full throttle I can pull first gear all the way tell 9, grab second and shortly after the car starts acting like its being chocked off. Almost like its missing or being fouled out.

And the car just isn't giving me any signs or hints. I'm aure with a accessport or a high end scanner I would have found the issues.

2004 rx8 24k about on engine

New plugs
New coils
New wires
Premium fuel
Premix
Gutted cat
No air pump
No muffler

When the problem first started happening the car would get a class a missfire with a blinking check engine light. After new coils and plugs the light no longer comes on when the problem occurs. Only time I have ever seen anything like this was a grand am with a clogged fuel filter.

This is with your "custom" intake right?

No actually the problem has been there since I bought the car on a 100% fully stock intake and filter, with both screens, and air horn.

And fuel pump is definitely possible. I can check pressure.

Anyone have a way to check the resistor? Like a ohm reading or something?

Yeah with that mileage the fuel pump is something to look at.

Engine ----> Fuel System

Well my SSV is stuck right now, so I'm going to go that route first and remove here and clean her up. If issue still persists I'll go fuel route. Judging by how carboned up the engine was this does seem like the most likely issue.

Well if your SSV is stuck then that explains it. But typically you get a CEL when your SSV is stuck.

Well everyone it was stuck shut. Along with that the vdi wasn't even hooked up. 40 minutes later all problems fixed.

No check engines lights besides cat and air pump

So just so everyone knows removing the ssv to clean it is stupid and time consuming.

Remove upper intake manifold. Spray cleaner on it. Work it until it opens and closes.

The soray lubricatoon on actuator and work it tell it closes on its own.

Boom done.

Yeah it happens with high mileage, a clean intake tract is a good thing. Glad you got it sorted.

I don't consider 20 some thousand miles high miles lol

The previous owner just didn't run the car very hard at all. Spark plugs only made it 4k miles.

OH, so only 24k on the engine, well when they replaced the engine they (if it was a dealer install) just slapped the dirty old intake manifold back on, they don't clean the intake valves. So however many miles were on the chassis are likely how many miles of **** was built up in that SSV.

Very true they normally reuse everything. The vdi was unplugged and the line for it was buried under a bunch of other stuff. Probably been that way since they swapped the motor. The owner before me only had it serviced at dealer.
