Im not really sure if this is a fair price. Any suggestions? I plan on having a compression test done. I guess the struts after leaking but he says they're still good for awhile. I haven't actually seen it yet.

Ad posted as follows.

"$6,000 OBO possibly trade for a sport bike + cash
Has a new engine from mazda about 30,000 miles on it, about 95,000 on the rest of the car. Great condition, very clean. I have installed:
bluetooth
all new coils, plugs and cables
catalyst delete pipe and mufflers
quick detach battery terminals
Aftermarket LED taillights
short ram intake from previous owner

It is considered and insured as a 4 door. Consistent maintenance, has never run low on oil and I've premixed everytime I fill up (91 octane only) so the car is happy and healthy."

I wound not even consider purchasing the car until there is a compression test done on it. Low compression is the enemy of these cars. I purchased a cheap clapped out rx8 and ending up needing to rebuild it within a few months of owning it. If everything is good in the car and it is in pristine condition then that is not a bad price.

Looks great! But you definitely need a compression test and a once over from the mechanic. Make sure all the suspension, brakes, power steering and electronics all work well. If it all checks out that car is a solid buy, looks clean.

On a side note this car has been decatted so I hope you have no emissions laws where you live. Can always swap in a cheap cat just to pass emissions then swap back but its gonna be an added cost to you.

Looks like a fine specimen. At 35k miles... with premix, new coils, plugs, wires and 91 octane. Isn't this the recipe for a healthy rotary? Why the need for compression test?

Because you are dropping $5,000 on it that's why. I'd test a nearly new car just to know for sure if I'm dropping that kind of money.

For this car it's especially important. You dont wanna buy someone else's problems because it's extremely expensive to fix this engine. It's not like a piston engine, it requires removing the engine even if only one seal is gone. Compression test easy to do and gives good peace of mind. You are crazy to buy one of these cars without doing it.
