How To Get Rid of My RX-8?
Bittersweet, but it is finally time to get move on from my beloved 2004 RX-8. She's a gray automatic 4-speed with 125,000 miles. Low compression in the engine, and I just can't go through another expensive repair. I just got a new radiator and cat converter installed too! Question is, what to do with it?
I suppose I could sell it at a project car, but honestly how much is it worth?
Any other ideas?
Thanks for any help!

call insurance
???????

jk dont do that. the 04 auto is the one nobody wants and with a low comp motor even less. is there any body mods (ms) or aftermarket goodies? you would make the most parting it out

^^ +1
Part out what you can, junk the rest.
Yep can sell that new radiator and cat, for one.
Interior pieces if in good shape (especially if your dash passenger side hasn't cracked).
Wheels are generally pretty easy to sell as well.
Any body trim is worth something.

paying someone to store and strip the car while you part it out will be far more money than you will get back. it takes a long time to part out a car. i still have a f/s thread from 2yrs ago with parts to sell but my brother owns a shop and i have a garage at my house.
it would cost me more in tannerite than the car is worth and i think it would be illegal for you to even watch such an awesome you tube video in cali lol
for real tho you could list it here when you have enough posts or ask a rotary shop if they would buy it for parts. maybe a rebuilder would want the engine core (4 ports are expensive engines) but i wouldnt expect more than a grand on the high side

You should probably avoid driving the car then. The low-compression engine can ruin the new cat in short order.
I know how awesome that 60s Mustang that was converted to electric is since it was supposed to be a drag strip car with a boatload of torque anyways, but I just can't see that working out for an 8.
If you want your 8 to have even less range and take forever to charge up, be my guest...
