Question How to control the condition of the oil system?

Rx-8 hp 2003 I travel a little and do not drive much, respectively, the oil consumption is not large. Accordingly, while it will be noticeable on the dipstick that the oil does not take, you can drive 500 km and 1000 and more. For the engine, this is not buzzing. I am interested in the question of how to check the condition of the oil system and by what signs it is possible to determine its failure.

Ahhh the classic "I thought this engine used oil" moment. Another reason I premix! You first want to check the condition of the OMP lines. They are the clear tubes that transport oil to the oil injectors. They are known to go brittle. A vacuum test can confirm if they are clogged or leaking. If the lines are ok, you may have an issue with the pump itself. If this is the case, it usually throws an engine code.

These aren't too difficult to have replaced. You could just find a working used one with good lines. If you end up going this route, make sure it's for a series 1 RX8. The RX7 and series 2 RX8 OMP's wont work.

Those are good checks to make. Just to set expectations though, if you're not pushing the engine, the consumption rate is quite low. Driving 1000km with a light foot might consume 500mL of oil. The engine holds 7 liters, so you may not even notice.

Rev it out, push the car, it needs to be driven hard to avoid gunking up. You may notice a decrease then.

I have a car in 2003. Will it also show an error? I thought that the error would be shown on newer cars, where the electronic oil supply system.

There are codes for the OMP in all RX8s, but not all readers can read them. So what you would see is check engine light is on, but the reader shows no codes. In that case you need to either find a Mazda dealer or a reader that understands manufacturer-specific codes Mazda put in.

Oil consumption less than 400 gr. per 1000 km. By the way, the oil in the tubes to the nozzles is light and the dipstick is dark. In the tube that goes to the inlet, it pouts forward, if you pull back, the tongue sticks, then it releases.
How can you verify what exactly the problem is?

As mentioned before a vacuum test on your lines is how you know they are ok. However, you can really just tell by inspecting them. They are prime to dry rot and do decompose over time. Replacing those lines are expensive so it's better to just get a second hand OMP in good condition.

This thread should help with your journey on this issue you have:

That doesn't sound particularly abnormal if you drive lightly. What are you expecting it to be?
