Thanks guys, I'm an engineer by trade (which contrary to some belief, doesn't make me a mechanic haha) and wanted to do a lot of the potential faults myself.
The Mrs wanted to get rid of the 8 as her mum said we could have it to part exchange or sell to put toward a "family" car but after driving it at the weekend and to work this week I have fallen in love with everything about it. Even though the power steering doesn't work as it should (but I'll start a new thread) searched the sight and couldn't find a thread with similar issues.

As the admin hasn't approved my account yet to enable me to post in fault thread I'll post here for now and move accordingly. I wanted to do it at work today in the workshop where I have all my tools lol.
Basically before te inlaw gave me the car she said the steering went heavier than normal, so a quick search on here and some helpful info I stripped down and cleaned the connections for the power steering and torque sensor and just for good measure all other connections I could access. Didn't fix the problem. Sorry I dodnt mention fully what the problem was.... When cold, the PAS works as it should, when it starts to warm up then it feels like it's trying to fight back when u turn slightly one way or the other.
I had a little fiddle just trying things and I turned the DSC off and for the most part seemed to cure the problem (felt light and normal) but about a mile from work it started to get heavy and resistant again.
Any ideas?

Sounds like stability control is a tad confused if turning off the DSC helped for a bit. But, if it came back, maybe not. Try repeating that test to see if you can have problem, kill problem, problem returns. That will give some clues.

Also, I assume battery and alternator are all good? I recommend an ultragauge to watch voltages and making sure all the battery cables are snug.

All I got for now.
