I bought an 08 Rx-8 about a month ago and I just started noticing a wierd hissing kinda sound from my engine bay n under the car I cant exactly confirm where... maybe im jus noticing it and it was always there ( like what my mom says cause she always hears the car when I start it up).. ill post a few vids n pics of it here.. ..

Many say it's supposed to be normal but im worried. I take extremely care of the car extremely well.. Also I notice that the coolant level keeps dropping (I has filled it a little above the F line and it was gone through the overflow but tdy I noticed that ih had dropped even below the F line....

Don't worry about the coolant level if it drops a bit below F. If it keeps dropping and dropping, then worry. It's not meant to be at the full mark, it's the "too much" mark.

I don't hear any unusual hissing. Does it only happen when you start the car? For the first minute or so? Could be normal secondary air pump.

 

Hissing means its not a continuous hissing but its like a little "sss" ... and its like in rythm with the rotary Brap Brap... I have no idea if that is normal or not... the car is totally fine with no check lights or anything.. no power loss... but when its a cold start the idle takes up a bit time to settle down.. n it sounds like its backfiring on its own for like 2,3 seconds...

I have an HKS twin Exhaust added and nothing much else in terms of mods..

 

I can never hear anything on these videos.

It could be an exhaust leak.
Go to your local muffler shop and tell them you think you have a leak.
If you don't, maybe the muffler monkey can help you figure out where the noise is coming from once it's up on the lift.

 

Yes I cant quite figure out a way to get that sound to record on anything.. And yes I will take it to a well known muffler shop in my area ( specializing in jdm ) and check it .. thanks for the suggestion.. ill update..
