For checking fuel pressure..

Be careful with the fittings. Understand how they come apart before you try to take them apart.

For spark, see this thread. Not Yukon, but should work the same way

I replaced my coils, wires and plugs less than a week ago. Do I still need to test the spark ?

Probably not.
You may want to be sure you have them snapped on tight, though.

Is there any relay in the Fuse box on our 8's with the same specs as the fuel pump relay that I can use instead of the fuel pump relay, just for testing ?

I still say to test spark. Just because you have brand new ignition doesn't mean that the ECU is actually firing them

If you have fuel but no spark then it is usually an ignition problem (unlikely here since you just replaced it, even crossed wires will still be sparking, just at the wrong time)

If you have spark but no fuel then it would be a fuel system problem. Injectors, relay, pump.

If you have neither spark nor fuel, then ESS is the primary suspect, since a bad ESS would mean that the ECU doesn't know when you fire fuel or spark, so it wouldn't fire either and you can crank till the cows come home without a result.

Finding out what you have and what you don't is still important.

Testing for fuel is easy, just attempt to start it, then immediately pull the lower two plugs and see if they are wet with fuel. If they are wet with something else then you have a deeper issue. If they are dry, you aren't getting fuel.

Guys, dropped the car in at mechanic's coz I did not have access to the equipment. He said over the phone " Your fuel pump is doing NOTHING, there is no pressure at all. No fuel in the Fuel lines". Just keeping my finders crossed and hope it is what he says and there is nothing more to this painful story.

Hey Guys,
Got my 8 back after the fuel pump installation. I got Walbro 255 (similar to the one advertised on BHR website). The car is running fine now. There are a couple of minor things that have started after the pump install. Would like to hear your opinion on these:

1)When Fire it up first thing in the morning, it makes screeching sound (2 times) as if an ungreased and old rusty shaft is spinning in a hole. I hope you get the idea. I can relate this my old and worn out pulley belts, what do you guys think ? Do you think that the pulley belts not have proper tension can lead to this ?

2)The car starts fine, but for ONE SECOND before the engine fires up it exhibits a behavior like its about to stall, but it doesn't. Feels like the engine is starved off gas for 1 second. Not an issue with drivability but i don't believe that this is normal. Any ideas ?

No CEL's, Runs fine

1) Sounds like the air pump. Disconnect the plug (passenger side strut tower) and see if it stops.

2) I don't understand. How can an engine that isn't running "feel like it's about to stall"?

1) Do you have a diagram or something to illustrate where the plug is ? Can I still drive for testing only once the plug is disconnected ?

2) It happens after the cranking and before the engine fires up in full force. I will post a video of it tonight so you can get a better idea.

The noise doesn't sound like the air pump there, as it seems tied to the RPM, but hard to tell.

The revs and engien behavior look and sound entirely normal to me. I see frost on the windshield? That would account for the higher revs after starting. Nothing between cranking and firing that looks or sounds odd.

Yes, as I said it sounds like rusty metal rubbing against another piece of metal. Can it be due to the belts or something ?
