Hi guys so I've just bought a 06 rx8 I have been trying to install a aftermarket screen instead 9f the radio unit I've read a lot about needing a metra kit is this true ? I have power and the screen works but I have no sound and I'm wondering if there is a way around this as I have the harness and the fascia ect that comes in the metra kit so don't want to spend silly money for just the extention cables and the Interface module I may need to mention I have the Bose speakers in there aswell

 

Have you checked to see if the factory bose amp is getting power?

 

You'll need the Metra Axxess or PAC RP4 module if you want the steering wheel controls and center LCD to work, maybe for the AC as well.

And you have to connect the Bose amp in the pre-amp outputs of your new radio.

Can I buy these by themselves I'm not intrested in the steering controls but I'd like the LCD screen and air con to work I already have a fascia and harness it's just the extention cables and the box I need.

 

You can, I got my RP4-MZ11 from Crutchfield. It came with the required harness and RCA plugs, no need to buy anything extra.
