Help! How do I fix this??
I bought my RX8 with this piece taped and the one time I take my 8 to a oil place and got my oil changed there they knocked it off and we haven't been able to get my 8 to run the same we took it to a shop and they said they could either replace the whole intake for a lot of money or we could take some plastic weld to fix it and we took the plastic weld and tried to get a seal on it cause I know it's intake so it needs a good seal but it still does the problems not as bad though and the plastic weld came off I'm guessing cause the heat but how shall I fix this?
Get another intake. That's the feed to the brake booster so its kinda important
There should be some around at a local wreckers or ask around on the forum. I have one...but I'm a long ways away

I agree that it's hoopajooped but this means one important thing: you can't really break it any more than it already is.
I say, get some 2-part epoxy or cynoacrylate adhesive and try to permanently glue it back on. Just make sure you clean and prep the mating surfaces very, very well. Put a solid, uniform bead inside the ring on the UIM. Once you've bonded them, let it cure for at least 24 hours before driving again. Also, check very carefully for vacuum leaks afterwards.
One thing about cyanoacrylate adhesives (krazy glue, superglue, etc) is that water catalyzes their curing (this is why they seem to bond skin instantly, lots of water in/on your skin even when you think they are dry). So, if you use a CA glue, breathing on the parts (like you do before you wipe off your glasses) before adding the glue and joining them together will help them cure faster.
