Help with engine swap

I kind of need someone to just help with some advice. I'm thinking of doing an engine swap using a 13b rotary on a bug, I know this isn't necessarily the group for this but I thought I'd come to the masters of rotary themselves, if you think you could help please reply

Sounds like a fun project. I know nothing about bugs, but don't be afraid to ask. "13b" is like 5 different engines from early 80s to 2010, so depending on your goals we could at least narrow it down.

OK well is the 13b engine even the right engine to start with XD, like I know their are some cheaper options, but it looks like the most reliable option. I don't know many rotary engines, or even if they are available on the market, would you maybe have some recommendations?

I don't know if its going to be your most reliable option but if you are dead set on a rotary kind of depends on if you want turbo or no turbo/what power levels you are looking at. Also very important is your budget I'm assuming that this isn't going to be the cheapest/easiest swap to do. I'm in the same boat as Loki as i know nothing about bugs. So maybe there is something about doing this swap that I obviously don't know but with that being said if you know nothing about rotary engines there might be better options for you. I do know that bugs have a boxer engine so maybe a Subaru EJ engine would be a good option as its also a boxer engine and I have seen a few of those swaps done before. might be easy and cheaper being similar engines just a thought good luck

Hi, 20yrs ago i had a friend whom asked this same question,
he was looking at a carby 13b form a series 3 RX7.
but where he was coming unstuck was building a frame to hold the motor and gear box.
If you have your heart set on a FD (not xd) turbo motor then this is a good one to start off with.
you will need some sort of oil cooling/ water cooling + intercooler cooling or airflow.
The FD motor is EFI not carby like the bug.

this is some of the things we'd chatted about yrs ago, this was with the intention for the motor still to be mounted in the rear.

hope this helps.
