HELP! Changed Battery and Cleaned MAF - now NO Taillights!!!
I read the stuff on tail lights not working, but nothing seemed to fit, except look and look.
How can we just change the battery and clean the MAF (took out the air cleaner, too) and now - no tail lights???
They were working before, now they're not!
The tail light fuse is blown. I replaced it and checked the lights and it blew again. I heard it. Headlights and brake lights work, but the tail lights and side marker lights do not.
We are looking for any wires in the area where we were working that might be frayed or anything that might be touching, etc, but so far nothing. We also checked the tail light wiring and don't see anything that could be causing a problem.
If you have any ideas - I'm listening!!
Thank you in advance!

We found it!!! Well, my awesome husband did!
He disconnected the wiring harness to the tail lights in the trunk and the fuse didn't blow, so we knew the issue was in the trunk. Eventually he found that a wire going to one of the tail light connectors in the trunk was caught between a nut and the body. We took it out and put some electrical tape on it and voila!! Everything works awesome again.
I'm so relieved. I can drive my car in the morning and not have to borrow dh's Miata.
The crazy thing is that the fuse didn't blow till we put the red top battery in. I wonder if the old battery just didn't quite put out enough to have the issue surface? Anyway, just very relieved to have lights back!
