Got my first rx8 need some help

I got my first rx8, and am wanting to know of possible ideas of what may be wrong with it. We replaced plugs wires, and coils, I just put a new crank sensor in it the other day(check engine light threw code p0336) pumped brake 20 times to reset throttle body to read the new sensor, and still nothing. It cranks faster than it did before. It was really slow. I'm not really quite sure what to check next. People has told me everywhere that the starter is bad but this is a group specifically for these cars and would like more input. I have a video as well of me actually cranking it today. The other day it backfired really loud and melted 2 holes in my cover (never done that before) just any help would be kindly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Video will not upload.

Have you tried deflooding it?

To get up to speed on what's what, see the New & Potentially Owners section on rx8help.com. It's written up by members here.

Yeah I've tried a couple of times.. when I hold down the pedal, it will backfire some, but that's pretty much it. After changing the crank sensor, and reset everything, it did start sounding more healthier while cranking, and came really close to firing but didnt

Are the coils connected to the correct spark plugs?
Flooding can take more than a couple tries to clear. If you're getting backfires WHILE holding down the gas, there's a lot of fuel in the engine. Holding down the gas turns off the injectors. Keep trying and make sure you're following the steps exactly.

Sounds like it's just flooded. Try jumping the car that also helps it crank faster if the starter is weak. Here is a video on how to do the deflood procedure.

I believe so, I'll check again to be sure, but I'm pretty certain everything is hooked up properly. I looked up some diagrams to make sure the previous owner didnt mess anything up after he changed everything, because he left alot of things missing that I had to replace. I'll try again deflooding it, just didnt wanna feel like I was over doing it the way it was backfiring and everything

Sometimes takes a while. One car it took nearly 2 hours doing this but it worked. Just keep trying but do not to abuse the starter. The 1 minute break in between cranking is important.

Right. Whenever I did that the other day, mine sounded just like it did in the end of this video, but I stopped cranking because it sounded like a gunshot in the exhaust and I live around alot of people, and he mentioned if you stop you have to repeat the process over again... lol

That just means its working. The excess fuel is combusting in the heated exhaust and you should be seeing a lot of smoke coming out. When it does finally start you will have to let people know not to call the fire department as it will release plumes of smoke but it will clear out in about 30 seconds.

Yeah whenever I did it then, it had melted 2 holes in the car cover i have over it and never did that before. When i was doing it, it started to eventually sound like the motor was running while I was cranking it but I dont think I was working the accelerator properly

Sounds like you're almost there. As for burning through the car cover... is the car cover around the exhaust? Because backfires will do that.

Yes it was at the time, I moved the cover though. I just never thought it would actually do anything too serious I just tried it one night and it made some progress so I got distracted by that and completely forgot to remove the cover on the backside.
