glove box light short

So it seems i have managed to short my glove box light while crimping some leds into it. I tried testing differant bulbs in the socket and testing it with a test light to no avail. Checked all fuses in cabin and engine bay aswell. Headlights and cig light come on fine, which i believe are on the same cicuit? Was wondering how i would go about fixing this/replacing the wiring to the glove box? Or what else i might have missed to check for.

Does your trunk light come on?

Usually glove box lights have a switch in line that turns them on when the glove box is open......not sure how it works on the 8....but something is likely up with that

It is, it's also in parallel with the trunk light so it's probably not shorted. Is it possible that the light holder is broken?

What were you crimping?

If its parallel with the trunk light, why would the trunk light come on without the headlights on. But not vice versa? I have some doubt that its the socket as i tested the wire where i crimped it at.

I was crimping two led strips for footwell lighting, four total. My initial thought was maybe that was to much. As they randomly just went out as i was about to mount one. But if so it should have blown a fuse, right? But on the other hand it was more likely that the positive and negative wires touched momentarily as the tape slipped off. So, ya.....fail

Did you find out how to fix it as I am in a similar position (I was going something and to cut a very long story short I shorted it also)
