Final got a RX8 but Steering weird

Finally got myself a RX8 (2005 6 speed) bout it as is and after fixing countless issue from previous owner such as bad fuel pump, starter with no bolts and my favorite issue rotor one have both leading plugs and rotor two have both trailing plugs I am one exhaust leak away from passing inspection.

The issue i am having is my steering wheel has a lot of play in it when the tire are center. i can move the wheel 2 inch either way before the tire move but once I turn it stays engaged until i get back to center with is sketchy driving down the straight road. I don't think it my universal joint do to as soon as i turn the wheel the shaft turns all the way down to the steering rack. just wondering if there a way to adjust the racks our if my issue could be something else. any help is appreciated.

Its likely a universal joint issue but it could also be the bushings. Would need to inspect to know for sure unfortunately.

Check the tie rod ends.....

Turn the wheel and see if one wheel moves right away and the other seems to have slop.... the sloppy side is likely loose
