Unhappy Fairly new Rx8 owner in need of help

Hello, I don't know enough about cars to understand everything that is going on and admittedly that's the main issue but I was hoping that you guys might be able to help me find a solution to the problems my car is facing.
(My father and uncles and cousins are helping me as well but they have their own things going on and know little to nothing about rotary engines.)

Car details
2004 Rx-8 103k miles Automatic 4 speed
(I have a 100k miles / 2 year guarantee on it made on its 101k mile so...till 201k miles)

So, here's the list of problems my car is having...
Engine Failure
"How so? Explain please."
The car will literally shut off when I stop too quickly at a red light. This issue started just two days ago.

Difficult To Start Up
The car will sometimes not start up properly. I'll turn the key and I'll hear the normal ignition sound that scales up wards going "vrom. vroom. vrooom. vroooooom (let go of key and the car is on)" BUT it will stay on a lower vroom and not start up so I have to hold it longer untill the engine starts up or it gives up and I have to let it rest.
This happens when the engine was recently on and it is hot BUT it doesn't happen consistently. When the car dies at a red light it re-ignites quickly (thank you car gods).

I saw this post...https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...causes-249529/

and went to both idle troubles and engine power loss but I have no idea what my issues would be under in the sub topics nor do I know what these failures are. Any help is appreciated. I'm reading up on all of this too, so I'm trying...

Hi, difficult hot starts are a classic symptom of bad compression. I assume you mean an extended warranty.
Get a rotary specific compression test before all else, the engine could be bad.
Good luck!

what he said.

Only other thing is, has the battery been changed? If so, it may be that the fuel trims were lost. This drives my car nuts for a few drive cycles. With a cold engine, I suggest you start it, and let it idle. It may idle high, but that is OK. let it slow reduce idle speed on its own down to a reasonable 800 or so RPM. Then drive a bit and let it cool. Repeat at least one more time from a cold engine. That is what I do.

The compression test is also in order as recommended by Big Cajun.
