EU An expensive sound.

Howdy everyone! I recently bought a silver/grey '04 RX-8 , and I have fallen in love with it!
but sadly during one of my daily voyages to the office I have been supprised with a sound that I am not too fond off.

This is the a short video I recorded: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Lg0BOSR0E9I

Does anyone know what this bonking/loud sound might be?

Did you look under the car? (while engine is running)
I never heard this before, being new to rotary
myself, but it could be a hole in the exhaust?
If you rev it up what happens??
(can't hurt it any more then it is..)
Just a thought.....

Hey Samakijoe!

I have looked under the car, nothing clanking around under there, and my catalytic converter is still there
I did have a suspicion there was a small leak, but it coulnd't have just blown up right? because I am starting to have doubts hahaha.

When reving it up, the bonking increases with the rpm, it still has power and the rpm remains stationary.

Wait. When you rev it up, the sound increases with rpm, but rpm remains stationary?
It does sound like exhaust, can you localize it with your ears? Not possible to do via a video, but that would be my next step near the car.

Hey Loki!

My bad, I just sat down at the office, still being half awake.
When I rev it up, the sound becomes more rapid aswell.

With the rpm being stationary I am trying to say that it does not feel like a misfire or a clogged MAF sensor.

When I am back home I will jack it up higher then before, start the car and try to localize the sound again, thank you for the advise!
