Driver side a/c problems

I've searched this forum using the search bar and google (site:rx8club.com), but i can't find anything that is my problem. The drivers side vents (the one by the door and left center vent) both blow weaker and warmer than the passenger side vents in hot weather (~90+ degrees). Anything below that and it's fine. I know the A/C in the RX8s aren't the best, but why doesn't it blow the same as the passenger side? It would make those hot days much more bearable. Also I noticed that after driving for about 30 mins, on the highway, the A/C just stopped working completely (in 90+ degree weather) it was blowing. This happened twice. I had to roll down the windows. The second time, I stopped somewhere to help my friend and cut the car off for a minute or 2 while we did what we had to do, and then after i got back in and cut the car on, the a/c worked again. Blowing really cold. Maybe the A/c needs to be recharged? Or would it have to do with the fact that I haven't put the under tray back on my car yet? Sorry this is so long haha.

Sounds like the air isn't being directed properly within the ducts. Something could be restricting the flap from opening and closing or the actuator is getting weak. When I say something it could be any type of debris such as leaves etc. Try directing it to the floor or windshield to see if airflow is good. Also make sure recirculating button is on. There is also a flap for this with something possibly stopping it from opening and closing. As for the AC going off, is there any airflow at all when this happens or does it just go warm? If air flow completely stops then the blower motor could be on the way out. Try tapping the housing where it's located when this happens. If it comes back on when tapping it then it's the blower.

There is a tread, but pita to find. you are likely low on freon. the 'cold' is gone by the time it gets to the side of the evaporator that feeds the driver side of the car.

I mean the air doesn't get cold period when I say the A/C just stops working completely. The blowers are still going. When I switch from recirc to fresh or vice versa, I hear a creaking noise that sounds kinda like the noise that the villagers make on minecraft(that's the only way I can describe it). And I will check the airflow from the floor and windshield vents later today and post what I find.

That's what I think the difference in temperature problem is, but I wasn't sure since the passenger side still got cold. So the Freon flows from the passenger side to the drivers side of the evaporator? I should look up a diagram of the a/c system for the 8.

Sorry for the late replies. I was busier than I thought I would be this weekend. Thanks for your help both of you.

Added some r134 and all the vents are blowing at what feels like the same temperature now. I'll test it more tomorrow when it heats up again outside and see if there is a difference in temperatures. The temperature was 87 at the time when I tested this. There wasn't a big difference in temperatures when it's under 90 outside, but it was noticeable. It took about 8-9oz to get it to optimum pressure range. I'll check the pressure again in about a month to see if it's leaking out slowly, but I think the guy that replaced my engine fked up and let some pressure out of the system or didn't fill it up all the way (terrible experience with him so i wouldn't be surprised honestly and i will never go back to him again). I wasn't having these problems before the engine replacement and I didn't know that these problems existed because I got my car back in january and it didn't start getting above 90 here until about 3 weeks ago.

Also, I checked the air flow of the other vents in the car (windshield and foot) and they seem to be blowing at the same strength on both sides. Weird enough on the way home before I recharged my system, the head vents were all blowing at the same strength so I don't know if the problem cleared itself up? The creaking noise when I switch from recirc to fresh air also was gone. And it still is. I don't know what was causing the problem, but it's gone now.
