2006 manual stock RX8

I have found many threads about the center console not working due to bad connections after removing the faceplate etc. My xase seems slightly different to any I can find.

The complete display is black. (Time, temperature, radio/cd). However all the controls appear to function correctly. Radio tuning. FM1/FM2/AM, scan, cd, AC, Amb etc. This includes steering wheel controls. My first thought was that I had switched them off or dimmed them to nothing, but I cannot find any such control. (Is there one???) I have not removed anything in the front console and am loath to do so because connection demons live there.

Any suggestions

When I first got my 8, mine would do this after a large bump in the road. What I found very quickly was that one of the corners of the radio was popped out just a bit. It looked like it was in, but when i pushed it back in place everything came back on. After I took it out and realigned everything properly I haven't had the issue since.

Give each of the corners a little tap and see if that helps.

So I started the car this morning to try your suggestion and the center console lit up without touching it. I had already restarted the car a number of times and nothing worked. That was with 5 minute intervals. This time it was after a 24 hour 'rest'.

Thank you for your reply. If it happens again I will follow your suggestion.
