Driver door stuck closed

So my driver side door is stuck closed.
I have no idea why but one day it just didnt open anymore.
I can open the passenger side door. I can lock and unlock the car from the driver side door.
I can also not open the door from the inside.

I read that it occurs more often and that a spring might be broken. But to access all that, my door needs to open first. So I tried to remove the inner door panel without success because it seems to be stuck behind the bose speaker. I have it partly loose and tried to press and pull on a lever that I could see, see attached image red arrow.

Now I am tempted to take my dremel and cut in the side panel to seperate it from the speaker part.

Anyone knows a better solution?

The panel partly loose.

The lever I tried pulling and pushing without succes

I'd make sure you have a good replacement in hand before cutting. Otherwise, look in the manual and see where the fasteners are. You might be able to pop the door card out.

You can't open it at all even by tugging on the rod? There's a somewhat common failure of the powerlocks servomotor, but that shouldn't prevent you from unlocking the door with the key from the outside and opening the door that way.

I opened up the second panel and can now see the 'rods'. The second one which would open the door looks like it has some sort of protection over it.

And nothing you do with the key from the outside moves the rods?
Does the key rotate freely in both directions?

I can move the key left and right. This moves the rod up and down. Same with outer handle.
