Coolant problems :(
Not really. Overfilling just doesn't give the gaseous vapors in the coolant system (heat turns water from liquid to gaseous) enough room to expand (which is why our coolant bottle is actually called an expansion tank). However, to cause a problem, it would have had to have been filled completely, and it doesn't sound like you did that.
It sounds like you are comfortable just casually driving around and hoping you didn't have any damage and hoping that the problem doesn't come back. Hope is good, but it rarely fixes problems. Up to you though. You are the one footing the bill if you just ignore it until after your shop's warranty expires.

Overfilling just causes it to drain out of the overflow
You either had a big air bubble that made the car overheat..that you remedied when you refilled it...or you have a sticky thermostat...or a blockage
I have an FD in the driveway that is overheating and dumping coolant because it has a combustion side coolant seal breach..it doesn't leak coolant into the combustion chamber...it just over pressurizes the cooling system when it is running and blows coolant all over the place
If yours has stopped doing it...I would lean towards it being a bubble or a thermostat that was stuck closed......and opened up when it got hot enough. I would replace the thermostat in any regard as it is a cheap part that it easy to get to

My coolant has been leaking through where the cap is, usually once I start driving it. I keep refilling but i think the engine is pushing out pressure through where the cap is. I’m not sure what to do to fix this I need help!
leaking from the cap or the overflow tube? the cap could be bad, a water gasket could be bad, system could be blocked/t stat. need more info. either way dont drive it if its overheating
