Cold air intake

Depending on what intake you get, you're likely to lose power...

It depends on which one.
AEM/Mazdaspeed (same one, different brand sticker) is somewhere around a 2-3whp gain, no mileage benefit.
Racing Beat is somewhere about 2-4whp gain, no mileage benefit
Stock = stock
K&N Typhoon is around a 10-15whp loss, 2-6mpg loss
Weapon-R is around a 15-20whp loss, 2-6mpg loss
I lose track of most of the rest, but if it isn't in this list and is a brand name, stick it in the list below Stock and above K&N. If it is a generic ebay one, put it below Weapon-R.
Our factory intake is very good. This isn't your typical econocar that has a hugely restrictive intake.

The factory oem intake is a cold air intake. Open the hood and follow the route the air takes. It comes from the front of the car behind the bumper cover. There are tweaks that can be done to the stock intake that may argumentatively approach that of the best aftermarket ones. Why do people buy the others. Because it looks like you've done something.
