Hello all,
New member so I could only post here. While driving my RX8 trying to do a U-turn, I pressed my clutch in and all of a sudden my clutch stick started to rattle for a bit and all of a sudden my engine shuts off. I went to Mazda and they want $390 just to do a diagnosis and take off the transmission, clutch, and engine. Instead I went to tow the car a private autoshop to find out the problem was and still awaiting for the cause. Background is that I'm still pretty new to driving and my thought is that I slipped the clutch too much and was driving on the highway pretty hard the other day. . . I'm just hoping this is only the clutch :/. Any thoughts of what it could be?

 

start with the easy stuff. the clutch pedal itself is known to break

 

Does you're clutch squeak when pressing it or wiggle side it side quite a bit both are signs of a broken clutch peddle.

 

Sorry. I meant to say that it could be related due to the clutch disc, flywheel, bearings and etc. The clutch pedal is fully okay as I had it replaced already. 😁
