Chaunceys new RX8

Hey guys just bought my RX8 a couple of weeks ago been creeping these forums ever since. I bought a 05 auto RX8 from a mechanic friend of mine that planned on fixing it up but his old lady got mad when he traded to it and decided he wanted to keep it and gave him the choice of it or his 67 mustang he had since he was in high school so he had to let it go. I drove past it for sale and immediately fell in love with it how it drove just the whole nine yards. Then I stumbled across your forum and got to reading the stickies on maintenance the good the bad and the ugly and got to get the car a lot cheaper than normal because he had just got it as well and loved it but didn't know a whole lot about rotaries. I introduced him to the site as well so he would understand what I was talking about and since we both lived like 2 hours away from a good dealership to check the compression basically got it for the price without a good running engine. It is a automatic with 92k and yes I know a lot of people hate the automatic done seen a lot of that but I truly like it cuz I have a Xtreme as well and it's a standard and I love just driving the car having the power and not having to shift unless I wanna lol. But I drove it very carefully the first 250 miles checking out and fluids and checking plugs wires and coolants and making sure no leaks but a couple of days ago I was using the manual slap shift and got it to around 6 g and shifted because I read you at least need to rev high once a drive for a happy engine and I got a flashing cel for a few seconds til the rev got down to lower rpm then went off and I went out this morning and started it and noticed a bit of white smoke then it evaporated away after a minute or so figured condensation like previously stated on site but I've checked all levels and everything seemed normal but as I was starting the car to head home the cel light came back on and stayed solid. Waiting on my OBD2 reader to come in the mail to read the cel but figured I'd give it a rest until then. But thank you to the site I know way much more now about rotaries and am so intrigued by them now and am fully expecting the worse a rebuild or new engine if need be but I love my RX8 and am so happy with the purchase I absolutely love the handling of the car

Welcome , Good to hear your enthusiasm come through ....
When you get around to asking questions , try not to make a wall of text and make sure you use plenty of full stops.

Will do just announcing hey to the club and I hate typing out long messages so I don't normally use punctuation when trying to get it all out but when asking questions I sure will.
