Car jumps forward even after warmed up
I've searched through the previous threads and found similar issues but not this exact one. I bought my daughter a 2004 RX8 with 72,000 miles on it. It's an automatic with the steering wheel paddles. I've had it checked by two different mechanics and they've both said it is in excellent condition. Here's the issue. As the weather has gotten colder, she warms the car up for 10-15 minutes. It's fine when she backs out of the driveway, but when she puts it in drive and takes off, the RPMs jump up into the red and the car jumps forward. It's both annoying and embarrassing to her, to the point that she's thinking about selling the car, which she really loves. Is this the same cold ignition issue or could it be something different?

"Into the red" like 9500 rpm? I can't see how anything in the car would make that possible. Does it do the same thing when you or someone else drives it? Does it do it every single time or only sometimes? What about regular driving, does the car act up at all?
Not sure what "cold ignition issue" you're referring to, sounds like you had prior issues?
Is it possible to film and share a video of this?
It's also not good idea to let this car idle for a long time. Warm it up a minute or two and warm up the rest by driving gently.

Are you pressing on the gas when the RPM jumps up? If so, sounds like there is a delay for the car to get into Drive from Neutral.
Have you checked the auto trans fluid condition before?
Also, no need to warm up the car for 10 minutes. At best, you are wasting gas; at worst, you can build up even more carbon in the engine. Warm up for 1 minute at most, and drive it.
