Buying an RX8

hi, just looking for some advice.

I've previously owned an RX8 however due to a change in circumstances I only had it for a few months so never came into an problems with it, plus I bought in full working order form a dealership.

My plan this time is to find an RX8 with a good body and interior but needs the engine rebuilt due to the seals going, I figure this way I know what's wrong with it and what needs to be spent and I have an essentially new engine. I know trouble with hot/cold starts is a good sign of this however I don't want to buy a car that needs an engine rebuild along with a lot of other work.

So I guess I am asking is there a sure way to tell if it just needs an engine rebuild and nothing else?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

If your not confident enough on buying one yourself as your not sure on what to look out for I would advise you to buy from a trusted specialist near you. Tell them what you just said that you want a rebuilt 8 with everything in good working order. Some of these babies are 14 years old now so you can just about think there is everything wrong with them. Im on my second RX8 now and this is the road I went down even though I do quite a bit of work on my 8.

Good luck ser

Cars that need an engine should be going for up to $2000. Whether it needs anything beyond the engine will be up to the buyer to find out when they inspect it in-person.
