Automatic stuck in 4th gear with traction light on
I had some odd behavior that wanted to toss out there for opinions. My car is fine now, but it might help somebody else as I couldn't find this issue by searching.
I dropped my 2006 6 port auto at a garage last week for an AC issue. When I picked it up today, six days later, it was in 4th gear and wouldn't shift up or down. The traction light was also on. I tried putting it in "manual" mode and it wouldn't shift in that mode either. Power was beyond awful, couldn't make it up a hill. I drove it home, shut it off, and let it sit for a minute.
When I tried to restart, it would turn over but only spun up to about 250 RPM and wouldn't "catch". Fearing the dreaded hot start issue, I let it sit for 20 minutes, tried again. Same thing. Now I assumed the local shop may haved flooded it but gotten it running enough fro me to drive off. Thinking I may still have to deflood, I hooked up the jumper cables and braced for battle.
Before de-flooding, I tried a regular jump start and it started right up! All the gears worked and no unexpected lights. I took it for a 15 minute drive and it seems fine.
The battery now shows 12.65 while running and 12.07 when off at the post and at the connectors. Unfortunately, I didn't think to check it before jump starting.
Could this have been due to a low battery from sitting for five days?

I’ve not owned the 6 speed auto but I have a 4 speed auto. I do know that low voltages from a poor battery can make this car behave in all sorts of weird ways. Just monitor it and if it gives you any more problems let us know.

That battery is barely maintaining charge. It should be at 13.8V while running, so it might be the charging system.
One obviously question is what does the shop who did the work had to say? They were the last to touch the car and give it back to you on this condition.
It's not flooded if you were able to drive it home

Thanks Loki, I'll look into that. The garage was closed when I picked it up, so I haven't spoken with them yet. Given that it sat there for almost a week, I suspect they'll say, "Worked fine for us".
