Indeed - I'd love to see an air cooled type in action. I'd have to imagine that it would need a tremendous amount of air and cooling urfaces (made of aluminum) to transfer the heat that a rotary puts out.

Great research paper, thanks!

Made me think of this one on the 13b-msp, don't know if you've seen it already. It is the paper they released along with the renesis back in 2004.

That's a great read as well!! I have something similar to that article in one of my RX-8 books. That's another good one to print out and add to my collection.

The see-through rotary engine on YouTube is of air-cooled type.

For smaller engines with very low horsepower output, you won't generate that much heat so air cooling is pretty sufficient.

That's a really cool file you shared TeamRX8!! Shame that most of it is written in Japanese, but the pictures tell a lot of the story!! I really liked it. Thank you for sharing it!

If you want to translate it from Japanese, dowload the pdf and go to translate.google.com and click Documents, find it in the folder you downloaded it to and select the pdf. It will translate the text, but it drop the images. It does a really good job if the PDF has rendered text like the last one TeamRX8 posted, otherwise you'll have to run an OCR(there's a few free options online) and hope. Not perfect, but better than nothing.
