Question Always starts the 2nd time?

Hi All,

A few weeks ago I've been getting an issue when starting the car hot ('04 MT): It cranks fine but it won't turn over unless I stop cranking then try again, then it always fires right up. Any reason why this would be happening? (FYI I installed a new starter a while ago which is right around the time it started to happen, with the old starter it would fire up warm but took a lot of [slow] cranking.)

Check all your connections with the starter. Make sure they're on tight and have good contact.

I checked the connections to the starter and sprayed them all with contact cleaner. I'll see if the problem continues to persist.

Ignition health is a bit of a question mark for me. I don't think the previous owner knows the last time it all was replaced. (The wires are aftermarket, so I guess it was replaced at least once. Currently at 68xxx miles.) I don't have any malfunctions or symptoms so I guess it's working ok.
