All are welcome to help

I am a new owner to a used 2004 Mazda Rx8 its has 76000 miles on it currently and I have been driving it for a few months. I still claim I am a new owner because its still all new to me. My issue is this: a few weeks ago my car would not drive over 85 MPH and when it was upto around 70 it would feel like I was releasing the clutch and not giving it gas so it would jerk once or twice. Then I left the car in the garage because I left the states I came back changed the spark plugs and now the car cant get about 50 MPH and the jerks are more frequent almost like the car is fighting itself to move. My major issue is the Mazda dealership is about an hour and a half away and all the local garages worry me. Is my engine screwed or what can I do. Im just looking for input this is the car ive always wanted so im really on edge about it and all you folks seem to have a lot of experience.

Umm gonna need more details.

Is it having trouble starting? Unusual noise coming out of the tailpipes? Check engine light?

My first guess is that it might be a fuel pump or your clutch is toast to that point it's slipping at those speeds?

Is it the original cat , have you checked it, are the correct leads on the L and T plugs ? You may find your answer in the New Owner stickies.

Check engine light blinks means misfire. Is it a steady light or blinking? Need to read code(s).
