All the lights on dash coming on!!

Hey guys, so i recently purchased an 06 rx8 6sp and I absolutely love it. Ive been having a problem tho, sometimes when im driving all the lights on the dash come and the power steering stops working and the speed also stays at 0. When i switch of the car the problem goes. This has happened about 3 times and ive had the car for about 15 days. Also I recently put after market gauges on my car ( oil temp, oil pressure, water temp) but im not sure what the normal readings are supposed to be. Thanks!!

clean the power steering connectors in the harness. did you mess up any grounding points when you installed gauges? are your battery terminals clean and tight?

iirc my gauges were a little under 200 for oil/water temp. my oil pressure was higher than normal cause i modded that too. my temps were lower than most because i modified both systems

I had a similar issue when my ac compressor was shorting out due to a wire being strip accidentally.

i always used idmitsu pre mix. 8oz/full tank. as far as oil goes lol. every person will tell you something different. personally 10/30 dino. some will tell you different weights and dino vs synthetic will never end. its like the 9mm vs 45acp or beans or no beans.

So i took my car to my mechanic after all the lights on the dash came on again. He checked and cleaned and re connected all the wiring and said the problem should be fixed. Next day all the dash lights came on again. Im thinking of getting new grounding for my car, do you guys think that ought to fix the problem??

cheers,
alz

Sounds to me like you have a short somewhere. Check to make sure all electrical is working properly including brake lights. When my dash kept lighting up spontaneously, it turned out to be a split wire in the trunk going to the third brake light. Hope that helps bro.

New to RX-8 and Lucille('04 RX-8 A/T) started w/a no start, found no power to 3 coils so new factory oem coils and NGK plugs and wire and RED35, week later it pulls 0443 0661, a week after those codes not fixed drove 60 to Hardy and way bac k in Mammoth Spring, AR left car to idle for 5 min to grab a pop, when get back in all lights are on and steering come and go, at low rpm lights off but after 1750 2k back on and power way low, at kosh 15m from home stop turn off/re start, same unhook cables, cable back on. Needless to say 14m out Battery light comes(only one that wasn't on really previously) and in 13 miles I smoke a $225 RED35 Optima. Got UMI off now to replace the solenoid valve in hopes of curing 0661 but they testing good so far, UGH

So I'm all ears...HELP! Ive been studying on here for 8hr now, work 30 read 2 w30 r2 and I'm leaning to Alternator maybe??? God help me if it's short to ground

Did you test the alternator output voltage? That should answer the alternator question..

No doc I didn't. It was midnight when we rolled in and when popped hood and seen all the swelling and some acid in bottom tray and some spray on and around battery I figured it was overcharging pretty bad. Next morn'n it was dead. Got new battery 2 day later. By then had UMI off. Putting back together today.. So far cant get the selenoids to test bad but think I will swith AIR and SSV just to check and also in case SSV noid is bad maybe I can disconnect it and replace without pulling UMI again. Will test ALT to.

Correction put solenoids over over stove shot w/heat gun at 210 wont switch, they cool down they work again. Both SSV and AIR, should I test VDI(black) too lol. I thought it generally unusual for 2 or all 3 to go out at same time
