I have searched and read but I can not find any symptoms which match mine.
I recently got a 2005 rx8, with credit card style remote ( only one which is pain but that's another story. )
Yesterday the red KEY symbol started flashing. Car starts, drives etc. No issues re entry but it is irritating when driving. Today after changing the remotes battery it seemed to be cleared but when I got out of the car ( with remote still in the car and the car still running )red KEY symbol started flashing. On restart for fuel no problems but when a passenger got out same issue!! The remote seems to function well. ie little red light on the remote comes on when buttons are pressed.
Is this an issue with sensors or remote? Or does the ecu simply need resetting?


Also given I have only one remote is the best way forward to get additional remote from dealership - big fee quoted - or is there an alternative with post 05 remotes which I can buy and then get programmed.
Any helpful replies appreciated. I am a novice. every day seems to be a voyage of discovery with this car so far.

Thanks read that thread. My KEY light is flashing red. Apart from that the system works fine. Doors lock and unlock, the car starts and runs. It does not seem to match any of the previous behaviours but surely cant be that unusual a signal?
