Hey guys/gals! I'm looking at this beautiful 2005 rx-8 and wanted some feedback and tips.
The car has 81000 miles on it and runs like a dream. The car seems to have no major problems with it and is super clean. I asked the dealer about a compression test and he said he's able to do it but I'd have to pay (which is no biggie). What I want to ask you guys is about the mileage because I've heard the rotary gives out at around 100k. Is that true or just a myth?
One last thing is what's some advise you guys can give me on the rx-8? I'm fairly new to the rotary engine but have done a lot of research on it but would still love to hear from fellow owners and rotary lovers! Thank you!

 

comp test, ask when ignition was last changed, ask about the cat and fuel pump. if you get good news on those and buy it the best way to keep it alive is drive the **** out of it after its warmed up of course and premix never hurts. also do not buy an automatic and the 100k is a myth

 

My 8 lasted right around 114k, it just depends on how You drive it, if you take car of it, etc. Get a comp test. By a Mazda dealer, not just anyone. Goodluck!
