hey all
new here. About to buy a 2006 rx8, the owner is an old friend of mine, took really good care of it regarding oil topups etc..
my question is, can i own one without going broke?
regarding the many posts i read on here, it seems that its quite a hassle to own one.
anyway here it is.

 

Depends on what you've read and what you mean by hassle. I won't try to convince you to get it, you have to understand what to expect and see if it's worth it to you. There is a New or Potential Owners thread that you should read for the low-down on what these cars are about. That said, people come to forum to post about problems, nobody posts "everything's great, enjoying my car", so for sure it can seem like all RX8s are on fire at all times.

There is one important part that you must keep in good shape - ignition. Failed ignition = chain reaction of other failures. Change your ignition coils or replace them with an aftermarket solution and you reduce that risk significantly. Beyond that... add & change oil, flush fluids at the regular intervals and enjoy the car.

 

I don't know your budget and financial situation, but if you could afford to maintain it, then go for it...good luck!
