I found a few threads similar to this, but none had the same problems. I have an '04 rx8, and the there's only 74k on it. Whenever I try to shift into 5th or 6th, it's like there's a wall there. The shifter doesn't move to the right at all. Even when the car is off it won't let me. Any suggestions?

Reverse works just fine. I just got the car a week ago and it's been like this since I got it
