FYI, the K&N Typhoon is one of the worst brand name intakes for the RX-8, and has been proven to result in lost power. Plus, no catback exhaust found has been proven to increase power at all. The stock intake and exhaust are really really good.

It isn't something you want to hear I'm sure, but it's the truth.

Welcome to the club though. We are happy to help guide you in the right direction if you wish.

Hello. Thanks for the info. I appreciate the honesty. I probably sound really stupid(which wouldn't be the first time) but I wanted to make the car sound more to my liking. The exhaust isn't a loud tuner rattle soup can sound and it's a low growl which I enjoy. And the intake I got on sale for 250 and I really like the way it sounds when you step on the gas. I did realize I'm starting to melt the area around the muffler. From other threads I guess it was make for a Gen 1 design. I heard there are longer hangers that you can use to make it sit just a bit lower away from the bumper. I did save all the factory parts and can switch back if I notice any issues with power but I haven't noticed anything major. Thanks for the welcome and I will think about what you said about the intake. Just bummed about my bumper. I don't want it melting but I do love the sound

For $100 more you could have gotten a AEM intake that's proven to give a gain.

2.5 months till the ebay exhaust blows. be ready to go back to stock because it will sound awful (metallic rattling constantly) and you'll have melted your bumper..
