2004 Mazda Rx8 Starter Relay Problem

Hello Everyone, Recently I acquired A 2004 Mazda Rx8 Automatic. I got the car really cheap. The car wasn't running at all. The previous owner told my that he took the car to some mechanic and they jump and the car didn't want to start. Then ask the owner if they can use 24 Volts to start the car. The guys burn the computer and some other stuff.Long story short the car had a lot of bad fuses or burned due to the amperage. I change all the fuses and remplace the computer with the correct one. I buy ck-100 programmer and program both key to the immobilizer and I can see the key program to it. So now the car have power and I can hear the fuel pump. The only problem that I am having, I am not getting power to the starter relay. The battery is good, and starter is good. I can used a jumper wire and completed the circuit manually and the engine spins strong.I am pretty sure the starter relay complete the circuit to the computer or the computer provide either ground to complete the circuit. Doesn't anyone experience this before? I own Rx7 before so I am not new to Rotary just new to Rx8 that is way different. The car is not flooded or bad starter.

Did you change out Fuse #28? 15A fuse. Double check and see if it burnt out next time you tried to start it up.

Next thing to check is your engine wiring harness. It starts at the positive battery terminal. There is a 60A fuse as well you should check. You need to follow that wire as it connects directly to the starter.

I have power in the one in red all the time. I assumed is battery power. The one in yellow, Iget power ownes I try to start the car and i get 12V. If I place power in the one to the left of the yellow the starter engaged and cranks. The one in the top center doesn't have power at all.

The 60 A next to the battery terminal is good that fuses was the first one that I replace, also replace the 120 A fuses that I believe is number 1.

The most likely thing is an immobilizer problem. Are you sure.you have a valid key?
is the immobilizer light flashing?

This is the starter relay socket. The one that is circle in red is the positive the one with the yellow is the one from the switch. The one on the left to the yellow goes straight to the starter solenoid and complete the circuit to crank it doesn't have any power. The one of the top doesn't have any power. Do someone now where that wire coming from?

The immobilizer light in the dash goes off after inserting the key. Before I program the keys the computer had three keys. I erase all the key and program two key to the immobilizer. It shows two keys currently reflecting the program. Before I program the key the light was blinking really fast it didn't recognize them.

I'm assuming you did all that correctly. A starter is pretty simple it just needs to receive power. It's possible that wiring harness got toasted due to receiving high amps before you bought it. You just have to check and make sure that wire has continuity between the battery and the starter.

That relay should click when the key is turned. Do you hear it working?

If it is clicking and working, what you need to do is verify that you have 12V to the relay connectors while cranking. If it does, connect the wire directly to ground and crank the engine. This should crank the engine even if it’s immobilized because this method bypasses the computer being the ground circuit. Your engine should crankover and if it doesn’t, I would suspect the harness or the starter solenoid is bad.

I would verify this weekend your suggestion and will be back with findings. Thanks for your guidance they are appreciated.

I went and check the relay and it doesn't have ground. I went and connect the ground directly from the battery and it cranks. I went and connected the CK-100 to the computer of the car and I can see 2 keys. Do you think the immobilizer can be bad?

"Also I clean the ground around the computer that going straight in the wire harness."

Its likely immobilized. In my experience this is hard to fix without Mazda software. It’s a dealer only fix usually. The computer completes the circuit so if it’s not there is an issue with it.
