Deflooded my 04 RX8 in August.

Ran like crap.

Brought it home, fixed a few things.

seafoamed the car.

fixed coolant leak.

car now runs. But only with a jump start.

Idle is rough.

When accelerating the car a loud *BREEERRRRR* sound at 3,000 rpm line, everything below 3k rpm line like car before it was flooded.

can drive the car at a top speed of maybe 60 mph but not anymore that that. Car varies from wanting to die at idle, to being just fine and dandy.

 

First thing if its an engine related problem is to always compression test to rule out the engine as a problem. If that's not it, replace coils, plugs, starter and wires if you return good compression numbers.

 

nice looking 8 man. Idk about your problem but what wing do you have on there? It actually looks functional and good

 

do you have a cat? as stated get comp test, test battery and starter (which starter do you have?) how long since you changed ignition parts? mileage, transmission, maintence history?

Changed the starter to High torque starter in july of this year.

Haven't changed anything else but the oil and seafoam.

bought it it said 136,000 miles.

after de flood said 112,000 miles.

pretty much been sitting since august

 

so you are over 25k miles and havent changed coils, plugs, and wires? do you have a cel? does it flash? do you have a cat?
