07 rx 8 died on freeway and won't start

Hey everyone I have an 07 rx 8 manual tranny. I was driving on the freeway and had the cruise set at 69mph when all of a sudden the car died. There was no warning it just shut off and now it won't start. I checked spark and there is none. It seems odd to me that all the coils would stop working at the same time, IDK I'm lost does anyone have any suggestions?

Not much you can do other than test the coils wires and plugs outside of the car to confirm they work. If you are getting spark from the tests, it could be an ECU or wiring problem. Did you get any codes?

Did you check your whole ignition system? Battery(Connections + Terminals), Plugs(mentioned), Coils(Coil wires), Starter, and etc? Did you hear anything as your car was starting to shut down? If so where did the sound come from? There’s a whole thread about this.

Im. Going to the car here in a few minutes to check for codes. And when the car died like I said there was nothing no sound no hesitation sputter nothing I honestly didn't even realize the car died until the car behind me was riding my *** and I tried to give it gas and there was no response.. I tried to take it out of gear and start it while coating and nothing then I tried to pop the clutch nothing not even trying to start up. It cranks good the battery is good its at 12.8 when the cars off. Ummm I've only checked one of the coils for spark it did not have spark I'll be sure to check them all when I get there.

Did you check the ignition fuse? Perhaps it's blown. That said, if it's blown, that would suggest to me that you might have a short somewhere.

Does it crank but not start or you have no life at all?

ok so I went and checked the codes. .I have two codes one being p0113 and the other being p2102. I took off the air cleaner box and sprayed starting fluid in the throttle body and cranked it and I can get it to try to run on the ether but even with the ether it won't stay running and with out the ether it won't even try to start it just cranks and cranks and cranks.... I've only.jad the car for about a month every since I got it it's had an idle issue it ideal really rough. It feels like a horrible misfire and it also has a take off issue almost like there is no throttle response until about 4krpm then it kicks in and moves right along but it takes awhile to even get to the 4k range. Also the car does have a harder time starting when.its warmed up and the idle issue is only when it's warmed up.. any idea?

Do those codes come back if you clear them?. p2102 should put you into limp home mode, but it should still start. That might also be causing the takeoff issue. It means the throttle isn't moving properly.

However, difficulty starting when warm points to the engine being at the end of its life. Have you verified/replaced the ignition coils, spark plugs and wires? Compression test?

Its an extraordinarily bad idea to continue driving a rotary that's displaying poor idle and starting symptoms. How was your fuel economy during this time?

this is classic low compression symptoms. need a test.

The codes do come back but it was weird when we tried to clear them it would say codes couldn't be cleared but then they wouldn't be there then. I would try to start it and one time it popped like it wanted to but then back to nothing and the codes were back. I haven't replaced anything yet.. also the MAF is pretty dirty I was gonna clean that and see what happens do you think that could be the issue? It is throwing the p0113 code..

Definitely clean it up with the right cleaner. What's it dirty with? Is there oil in the intake?

Hello again sorry it's taken a little to get back to you I've been busy with work. Anyways so I cleaned the MAF still nothing I also scanned it again for codes and it was through
p0113--- IAT sensor 1 circuit high input..
P0123--- throttle/pedal position sensor A circuit high input..
P0223--- throttle/pedal position sensor B circuit high input..
So I cleared the codes and still not starting but it's popping like it wants to but even with starting fluid it's not starting.. but the codes AREN'T coming back on now. Suggestions on what to do next??

I would expect to see some dirt on the side of the MAF facing the filter. Is the black stuff on that side? If it's on the back, engine side, you really did have backfire go through the manifold.

You received some suggestions above. Compression test? Fuses? Read the spark plugs?

You are doing everything but the obvious. You need to rule out engine damage first. Otherwise you are wasting your time. Get a compression test done, even with a normal tester.

Yes test before replacing things. Compression, fuel pressure, and spark.
