04 vacuum line question

I have had my 04 RX8 with a MT for a couple of months now and am still going over replacing whatever might need replacing -- coils, etc, and doing all the general maintenance that should be done -- basically a fresh start on all the maintenance on the car.

I noticed today that there is a vacuum line running from the intake manifold nipples -- the ones where you would inject Seafoam or other engine carbon remover -- to the oil filler.

On all the diagrams I can find, the line from the oil filler runs to to the accordion tube in front of the throttle.

The engine was replaced on this car not terribly long ago and from everything I have come across while working on it, it was well maintained. Not even a single over-tightened bolt or thread (even the bolts holding the CAT cam off relatively easy).

Is there some reason to have the vacuum line running to the oil filler that I am missing? Searched the forum and Google for diagrams and photos, and have come up dry.

Any advice would be appreciated.
