Looking to buy a 2005 Shinka in Black Cherry with Manual Transmission. I live in Northern Virginia, but will travel for the right car. Thank you!

I'm looking for the entire car. Maybe I need to reword my title?

Thank you, but I am wanting to replace a sorely missed 2005 Shinka I had to sell before a long deployment. I'm sure the "one" will come up eventually; I just have to stay patient!

That's the car, but she's led a hard life. I may have to look into restoring one at some point huh? They are all so far away from Virginia...

Thats what im saying i have hardly ever seen a good shape black cherry manual for sale just depends how quickly you want one . i found its better to just get it and fix it because you can learn more about the car anyway vs just buying a car thats all "good to go"

what was the number anyway like 1357 black cherry were made total? 1500 of the 2006 shinka were made but that includes the other couple colors too so not sure how many actual copper reds there are. also that includes auto and manuals. good luck!

Yeah there weren't many made I seem to remember. I loved that color combo, it was just so unique. Mine was very nice, garage kept and pristine and it had like 58,000 miles when I sold it. UGH. Now to see the dumb wars I was sent to both end in fiasco...screw it! I just want my car back lol!

Unbelievably, I found just what I was looking for! A quite nice 2005 Shinka 6 speed. Owned by a Mazda tech! I will post pictures when I get her here and get her cleaned up

Found one!

Thanks! Yeah, it was always my favorite version of the RX-8, I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. I regret selling exactly two cars in my life: a 1995 Prelude VTEC and my 2005 RX-8 Shinka.

This one will need a little work: specifically a high flow cat so I can pass the emissions here in NOVA. I'm still trying to come up with a good combo of cat and cat back exhaust that is bolt on.

I already ordered my Premix kit from RotaryBum like I used to back in the day. I can't wait to get back into the rotary world. Feels good

after going thru all the exhausts years ago i have learned the stock exhaust is best with a hiflo cat or a racing beat exhaust with stock cat... i cant do anything louder/raspier anymore now that im older

lmk if you wanna trade it for a 2006 copper red :P

It looks like Racing Beat is sold out for now. I'm going to have to come up with a solution quick. I may just drop an OEM cat in there connected to the factory cat back for now. Turbo XS makes a complete solution cat+cat back, but it seems really loud and I'm an older guy as well and just want something sporty but mellow.

Thank you very much for that recommendation! I may just go for the Walker Catalyst as well,if it is working for you. I can't find a used OEM cat around here anyhow.

I ended up just going with the Walker OEM style cat, based on RastaRX-8's recommendation and will bolt it up to the OEM cat back for the time being. I have to get the car to pass emissions first so I can get it registered and plated here in Northern Virginia. After I get that and the A/C situation solved, I'm going to strongly consider the Racing Beat cat-back. I really like the sound of the Tanabe Medallion, but of course has been discontinued.

ive learned for some things its best to just be patient and stalk the forums :P especially parts that are just metal and dont really ware

youll still be louder than stock with that walker cat and stock catback so just go in small increments until you cant stand the noise/smell

I'm just going to run that setup for a while to be honest. The Walker cat is sitting in my garage at this moment waiting to get installed. I have some minor issues to sort out: missing seat control covers (ordered), broken seat heater switch and and a good detailing to do.

Also, I need to fix the center console cover latch. Apparently, the Shinka cover is special and costs over $600 at the dealer (but is discontinued). I didn't even know it was a different part # lol.

ive got plenty of heater switches and regular console lids if you need

Awesome info! Once I figure out exactly what is broken on the console lid, I'll maybe have you set me up an order for some things I need! Maybe I could scavenge the latch off of a non-Shinka version of the cover? Much appreciated!

The console lid would only be unique in its color. Any RX-8 cover would fit. You should be able to easily swap over the latch hardware.
