If you are in Boston, please stay away from

Quirk Mazda in Boston
Gallery in Norwood
128 Mazda in Wakefield

Bad customer service and just as bad service, stay away.

I bought my 8 from 128, it's crap. They are a bunch of jackass salemen (Bill and I forgot the manager's name), trying to jerk me around and tried to change the deal on me twice. So too was Quirk, I tried to fix my windows there and they messed up my window trim and tried to blame it on me. Avoid these places. And that's Quirk Mazda in Quincy.

Quirk=my recall doesnt have a full tank of gas, vacuum or new spark plugs. They dont know anything

Gallery=Bunch of racists basatards working there.

128=They don't even like to look at potential problematic area, they just want you to get out and want you to do paid services

Got fed up of dealing with my vibration and per Chrism's advice took the car back, been putting it off but today I just can't take it have enough going on right now and my car vibrating like a minivibarting chair is pissing me off to no end. Went to Gallery told the Rep about it and asked for a ride along with a tech to explain/show him the problem. Wish there was a really good dealer around our area 'cause they'd be rolling in work from our 8's.

Tmak, you dealt with Lee didnt you? Older gentleman (if you care to call him that), heard that a few times about him, Drew's alright if he listens, and Steve(or is it steven 'eh same thing) is alright but havent had many dealings with him. But I'd avoid Lee like the plague, guy just gives me the wrong vibe yanno.

Should have a contest in the MA Boston area for good service and see who would win, the winner gets this MA Rx-8 cars to service well beyond warrenty work.
Critera should be something like,
Very nice and friendly
,
will listen to you when talking about the problem you have,

will actually look into said problems personaly or forward info onto the Techs,

the Tech's should call you personaly if they can't duplicate the problem and ask "When is it doing it for you 'cause its not for me...?",

The Rotary Tech should personaly meet with each Rx-8 owner and field any questions be it basic oil consumption question or maintence one can do at home.

I know I know.. asking alot but to me would kinda solidify the owner/dealer relationship. Hell its what I do at my job, and all I do is print peoples photos. I have parents coming in saying hi just to say hi, or talking to me for a few minutes after dropping of film or placing a order. Most place's its drop off the order and your outa there thats it.

Oh and Tmak, the manager of the service dept in Gallery is pretty nice and I fully believe he realize's he works with morons at times.

not all dealerships gave the full white glove treatment. while all should most didn't get it done if the dealership didn't actually do any driving (which honestly makes sense). the wash should have been done but it also depends on how much they wash. if it's just an external they could get away with saying they were done and not vacuum. as for the plugs, you only get them if you have complained of engine crank issues. following the flow chart on their bulletin if they asked if you had any problems and you said no and there weren't any documented ones, you basically got your car back.

i'm not sure if that was the case for you or not but it comes down to how people are these days. some will just do the bare minimum to get you out the door while others are looking to develop a relationship and will go the extra mile knowing anything they do reflects upon them. so in fairness to them, they may have done their job - they just didn't do anything extra.

^That and I think some dealerships knowing they'd be reimbursed claimed they did it and handed the bill to Mazda. Mine never got a wash either or full tank of gas but I wouldnt run it by them that they told Mazda they did.

Hell part of me is curious if they did the recall at all and just reprinted someone else's test. I say that 'cause my CAT failed 2 weeks after the recall in which they tested the CAT. I aint a CAT expert but I doubt a CAT gets packed solid within that amount of time and show no signs before hand yanno. Again up here we seem to have shady or uncaring service dept's. Shame 'cause we are supposed to be their um "Halo Car" owners and several people hearing my experince's with the car have said they wont buy Mazda because of it.

^ i agree with you. i haven't actually found a dealership here that seems to care about our cars or give any sort of customer service. it's unfortunate though but i just chalk it up to the fact that there is almost no customer service anywhere in this country anymore in any industry. there are exceptions and i like to think i was one of those exceptions when i was in the customer service industry. i used to make sure that i gave as much information as possible and stick with the person until they felt they were 100% sure about everything. i just don't see that much anywhere.

I haven't had any luck here in CT for a good dealer for my recall work. I've been going to Morande by default...seems like my poor car is literally in there once a month because I bring it in for something, and they need to order more parts to do the work. It's actually on its way there tomorrow for the dipstick filter thing adn the steering wheel rattle (this is the third time for the dipstick thing!)

As for Massachusetts....I've heard some really great things about the Mazda dealer in the Natick area. I think the dealership is in Wellesley? They are on route 9 west....close to the Natick border.

Partyka Mazda I went to was not too too bad, I am going to take my uncle's MPV (electrical problem) from Boston to there and see what they will do. My next dealer is probably going to be Wellesley, but they sound like morons when I spoke to them on the phone too.

Partyka Mazda did like 7 items for me last time I went in. They were pretty good, I am going to keep going back there until they prove that they cant do the job anymore.

Surprisingly, I think Mazda's service is better than Nissan.

Ugh....ya'll killing me with these reports. I want to purchase a RX-8 but all of this information is becoming a downer. I see more and more reports and it seems 90% of all 8's have some issue or another. Combined with horrible Mazda service this does not seem like a pleasant automotive owner experience. I love everything the RX-8 is meant to be.

My main concern is that the only Mazda dealer close to me is Ohara in Fairhaven. I live on Cape Cod. This would be a very long distance to travel if I had multiple issues or was in need of repair. Anyone's thoughts appreciated.

For the most part I believe those of us who have continuing issues are the 04-05's. I rarely hear problems of the 06 and the few 07's out there. If your planning on buying used make sure you have the warrenty and new then you'll be all set. That and when you buy the car from a dealer, bypass the salesman and a lesson I should of taken earlier and talk to the service manager and ask a few simple questions like "Do you have a rotary tech or a master tech?" then if you can talk to him either now or at a later date. Write down some basic questions you've gleamed offa this board that to you would make you say "Ok this guy knows his rotary's."

Oh and dropped off my car at Gallery today for my vibration. I found the easiest way to make sure your problem gets addressed "Ask for a Ride along". Had a tech come up and over (gallery's tech work in a basement I **** you not) and take a ride with me. Guy was nice and knew some basic rotary knowledge which gave me a huge sigh of relief. Gabrial was his name, I showed him how this vibration was occuring and how at times its faint but at times it shakes my entire dash. Explained how I met up with some fellow 8 owners and they all said "that isnt normal", he agreed with me and my assumption (and Chrism's) that its possibly the tranny mounts or worse something inside the tranny like the torque converter. He told me he'd put it on a lift and check all the mounts and the entire drive train to make sure everything is nice and tight beyond the tranny.

I highly suspect hell I now know that the Rep's are just over loaded and hear so many people b.s. that when it comes to guys/gals like us they just blow us off, no matter how much we show 'em "hey I know my ****!". Hopefully when I get the car back it will feel good as new and hopefully this will be the last time its brought in for warrenty work for a long long time.

Got the car back about 30mins ago. Vibration is lessened, they said it was a bad trailing plug that was covered in carbon and a loose wire, oh and one of the sparkplugs was damaged and damaged the thread in the engine?!?! it was noted though that our engine naturaly shakes, which I responded to the tech "Well I know that but when its shaking the dash its not.".

I think if there is bad service just bypass the reps and ask to talk to a Tech, again the one I talked to seemed very nice and *gasp* seemed to listen.

Oh it still stands avoid Lee at all cost and Ted the service manager is still nice (with my dealings atleast.).

I still say some dealer should realize "I have a totaly untapped market here" and make customer service number one. Hmm maybe I should just geta job as a rep.. any know what the qualifications are?

Until a model gets refreshed, purchases diminish after the initial flood (first few years), so I dare say there's a lot more of us 04 and 05 owners than there are 06 and 07. Thus it's not a good way to judge by. Also factor in that changes made to the newer models are usually made available to the older cars in the form of recalls, tsbs and reflashes..

Uh, how long ago was this? Mazda pulled out of that location many months ago. I know because I had my Mazda serviced there. Then when I wanted to check out the new rides, Poof! Gone.

^Well Im from Orleans so I understand what your saying about not wanting to go on a trek to find a good dealer. I called them about Sept, I just called right now and what I got as information before seems to be wrong. You were right that they did close the Mazda part of the dealership, and they are all out of 8s.

Yea, it sucks for us. One day I was there and they had six of them. Though I was very skeptical because all were purchased from auction and did not look like they were taken care of. Hey, you should check out the NEPOC crew over at mazdas247.com We get together quite a bit for meets. Astral makes an appearance once and awhile with his 8.
