I want (again) report a very good experience with the service department of Wellesley MAZDA (on Rte 9 in Wellesley, MA)

After being hit by a Stop-sign-runner, the service manager from Wellesley recommended me to Holis Autobody in Ashland, MA.
It took fife long weeks for the reunion with my RX-8, but it was worth the wait. The car is restored to new, and before delivery
Wellesley MAZDA did a complete check-out.

But over the weekend developed some rattle. So I went back to Wellesley MAZDA on Monday. After only 15 minutes wait (no
appointment), the car was road-checked and afterwards the whole rear suspension bolts re-torqued. All within less than an hour.

No questions asked (besides for fault symptoms), no bill presented, no paperwork to sign, just a friendly wave "good bye,
drive savely and come back again"

This is great service. Also, from a technical point of view, everything they did to my car had high quality.

I'll give them two thumbs up as well, they have been very good at scheduling appointments for my oil changes. They are very quick with service too, I waited once for an oil change which only took about 30 minutes from the time I pulled in the shop. They took my car right in and checked out a couple of things I asked them to look at. I had cracks in my defrost buttons which I wanted replaced and they didn't hesitate so set up and appointment the next week and give me a rental for the day. Good to know I finally have service at a dealer that I can feel good about.

This is my second visit to Wellesley and so far so good. Went in to replace an ashtray cover that can no longer close, a reoccuring CEL (DTC P0610), switching trans/diff oil to Red Line's, and a driver's side underbody rattle over bumps. Everything except for the rattles and CEL were taken care of. The ashtray cover was replaced without any damage to the interior surrounding the part. A new PCM has been ordered for the CEL after consulting with the tech line (which is consistent with the service manual's instructions).

Service suggested attempting to reproduce the rattling sound again when I bring the car back for the new PCM.

Although the dealership is the second closest one to my home, I'll be making this one my 'homebase' because of the following reasons:

1. The symptoms and the action plan taken are verbosely printed on the invoice.
2. The service people make eye contact and actually listens to you.
3. You get a good loaner car in the form of a fairly new Mazda3 (with a $5 gas fee).
4. Dunkin' Donuts next door - have a good breakfast while getting your car serviced in the morning.

Maybe I'll try them. I usually go to 128 because they have free high speed internet access. My only gripe with 128 is I have yet to get something done, even if its an oil change, in under 2 hours. On the other hand they do pretty good work.

As I said in my initial post: Holis Auto Body took the car to Wellesly MAZDA for a final check. I have not yet seen the paperwork
from that check. BUT: The car is totally different! I assume they flashed the PCM to "P". (They upgraded me to "N" at my last
oil change.) The engine develops power much more even in the low and medium RPM range and is noticable quieter on
constant highway speeds between 70 and 80 mph. At least with "M" there was an anoying noise peak between 3500 and 3800 RPM,
this is completely gone. But the best part is gas milage. With "M" the best I could get was 15 mpg city and 20 highway. I drove
down to Washington, DC, and back within two days, 1080 miles total. Gas milage ranged from 20.1 to 24.6 mpg, even with
heavy DC rush hour traffic and the associated stop-and-go on I-95. I'm happy!

I don't think that his is the pure result of a reflash. There is much more care required to achieve such
a very noticable improvement. A good testimony of the skills of the mechanic!

I just called 128 and Wellesley to ask about a front-end suspension problem. The guy at 128 wasn't nearly as nice over the phone and they don't offer loaners for more than 24 hours. Wellesley set up the appointment, nearly assured me that the problem would be covered under the warranty and offered a loaner. Needless to say I made the appt. there.

anyone know how wellesley mazda feels about aftermarket upgrades like a new flywheel?
