VT Spring Run 2006
It would be worth the 80 bucks to get there Friday night. The ride from Worc. will be killer in the AM to get there for 8:20.

That same distance once took me 10 hours on a rainy Friday night.

ok, weather shows 60% chance of rain, however the weather has been telling me that it's raining all week here and I've hardly seen a drop.
I guess this thing is a go, but it sure would be awesome to have some dry roads come sat.
I know alot of you are going up late friday, but I hate boston traffic so I took friday off and will be heading up there early. See you all tomorrow, drive safe...and think sun...

How early are you leaving? We are making 2 stops in NH along the way to dinner in Lebanon. Then to Stowe after that. I will be leaving Worcester around 3:30 - 4:00 to get to Nashua for 5:30. You're welcome to join in.

We will see you later that night then! If you find your schedual slips a bit or you find you stop to go shopping in Manchester at the Mall of NH... give me a call (PM'd you my #) and we will meet you at the NH liquor store on 93 around 6:20.
Good luck making it by 4:30... that sounds a bit optimistic, even without traffic if you are coming from south of the NH line....
We will see in the car for a night cap around 10-10:30!

Bob, looks like St.Mary and rxgrl will be arriving around 5:30, so I think we will be getting on the road quickly... assuming deepakmr is at the second stop on time or a bit early we should make good time. I have made reservations at the restaurant for 12 of us... but I will update them with a final head count and time of arrival after we hit 89N.

Anyone heard from G-Force? I'm assuming he plans to meet us in West Lebanon like last year.... but I haven heard from him and his cell from last year seems to have changed?
You out there G-Force? Are you or anyone from yoiur group going to meet us Friday night?

aight - after much thought I switched my reservation to Fri night
However, I will be heading directly to the inn, since I wont be able to stick to a schedule because of work.
I gotta head to New Jersey Sunday morning driving a pickup truck this time around.
Will be quite a contrast.

Hey All:
I have just a couple of things to throw out to you.
It's last minute, but I forgot to do it earlier.
First off, the first group of the Run will leave the Commodore's Inn at about 9:30am on Saturday morning. But PLEASE be there at least 30-45 mnutes earlier as it takes time to sign into a group, line up the cars, etc.
Also, I think I mentioned before but the Lunch stop is at The Fire & Ice Restaurant in Middlebury, VT. The cost is $13 per person and it includes the meal (a hot and cold salad bar), drink (non-alcoholic), tax and tip. Molly will be collecting the money for lunch in the morning BEFORE we leave on the Run - another reason to be early.
I printed out a set of directions for each car, but these do not include a map. No worries, though - it's an easy route.
We will be using FRS radios on the Run, so bring yours along if you want.
If I remember right, RX-8's don't get the mileage that the little Miatas do. There's a gas station in Middlebury very close to the Lunch stop that would be convenient. That's aslo about half-way through the Run.
I think that's it - hope I'm not forgetting anything.
Not sure if I'll be online again before the Run, so hopefully everyone is all set.
See you all this weekend!
Chris

See you all tomorrow! Deepakmr, I'll look for you at the 2nd stop... no worries.
Chris mentions a good point... try to bring exact "change" on the $13 dollars... it makes it easier on all
And either my memory is failing.... or we are sleeping in a little bit later! 9:30 start! so as Chris stated... you want to be out and milling about by 8:45am!
Keep your fingers crossed... especially for the Miata's sakes... and with a little luck we will hve the same fantastic weather we had last year!

Chris,
G-Force, myself and others are headed up tomorrow morning. Due to the shitty weather we will not be staying overnight.
We are meeting at the Wal-Mart in W. Lebanon at 7:15 am and headed up to Stowe from there.
See you then!

No problem... as for the spending the night... if you are refering to Friday, I can understand, but Saturday night we will all be hanging out and partying! Well worth spending the night, despite any weather conditions.
The run is of course on, rain or shine... though we all hope (especially the Miata's) for a perfect day.
I will say the Miata forum is much more optimistic about the weather then the 8's! They are looking at overcast and upto 40% chance of showers... makes me wonder if we are all looking at the same weather forcast
See you all in the am... it should be about 1:15-1:30 minutes from Wal-Mart to Stow... so if you all get off at 7:15, you will be just on time!
Can't wait to see you all tomorrow! And of course, even if you are not riding up with us this evening... feel free to join us for dinner at 7 berrel tonight at 7:30!

Hey All:
Molly and I want to thank everyone who braved the weather and attended the Run this year! True, the weather was wet but that didn't dampen anyone's spirit. The Run was as usual a blast to put on and we hope just as much fun to attend.
It was great to see many old friends and many new faces as well. It's hard to decide which is better - joking and swapping war stories with old friends or adding new people to the collection of tales.
Molly and I are already looking forward to putting on the next Spring Run and due to so many people asking, hopefully an all new Fall Run this autumn!

I just want to say thank you to Chris and molly for organizing the whole thing. It was my first VT. run and I had a great time. The roads we took were unbelievable and the scenery was just as great. Making new friends and sharing stories is always worth the trip. Thanks also to Tigger for putting together the pre run trip from NH. A good day spent. For anyone who has never been through the green mountains I would say get on this run! I will be the time of your life.

Hey Chris, Chris and Molly,
Thank you very much for making this run happen. This was my first time ever and I had an exhilarating two days of driving. Those were some real fun twisty roads to take on. Loved every minute of it. Just can't wait for it to happen again.
Great bunch of people to get to know too. Had a blast!!!
I honestly didn't have the time to look around the greenary - I was busy trying to push the car ;-) But the couple of times we got stuck behind the slow pokes, the scenary was indeed breathtaking :-)
Pictures to follow.
Thanks again.
Deepak.

a few other pics
Had an excellent day, 8 8's were there with a very nice FD, a WRX, an EVo,an S2000, and lots of miatas in the run. Roads were wet, but that just meant more excitement as you ran the twisties around the moutains with an Evo up you ***. Beautiful country, excellent roads (ran just over 120 miles), had a great time.
Bubbles was a blast ( private joke, but the miata groups new nickname for midlifer)
3 blacks ( the best color of course)
3 reds, 3 blacks, 1 silver, 1 green...
a nice RX7 that joined the run
A wrx that kept up very well, especially in the rain

Here's a link to some of the photographs. If you need the full sized files, I'd be happy to e-mail them over.
